Roller Blinds Price per Sq Ft: What Decides the Cost
Roller blinds usually sit in the lower part of our ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft range, including installation, which makes them the most affordable way to cover a window properly. Where your roller blind lands depends mainly on the fabric — plain translucent fabrics cost least, while blackout, sunscreen and designer textures cost more — and on extras such as cassettes, side channels and motors.
How a roller blind is priced
Like all blinds, roller blinds are priced by area: width × height in feet × rate per sq ft. A 4 × 5 ft window is 20 sq ft. At the lower end of the range (₹130 per sq ft), that's ₹2,600; across the full range it's ₹2,600 to ₹7,000.
What moves the price
Fabric
The single biggest factor. In rough order from lower to higher cost:
- Plain translucent polyester
- Dim-out fabrics
- Blackout fabrics (coated or multi-layer)
- Sunscreen mesh in specific openness factors
- Textured, jacquard, linen-look and printed designer fabrics
Mechanism
A standard bead chain with clutch is included. Spring (cordless) mechanisms and heavy-duty clutches for large blinds cost more. Motors are quoted separately.
Size
Large blinds need thicker tubes and stronger brackets to stay straight. Very small blinds may be charged at a minimum area by some suppliers.
Finishing
- Cassette or pelmet to hide the roll.
- Shaped or decorative bottom bars.
- Side channels that seal the edges of blackout fabric.
Worked examples
Using the full ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft range, installation included:
- Kitchen window, 3 × 4 ft (12 sq ft): ₹1,560 to ₹4,200
- Bedroom window, 4 × 5 ft (20 sq ft): ₹2,600 to ₹7,000
- Living room window, 5 × 6 ft (30 sq ft): ₹3,900 to ₹10,500
- Three bedroom windows totalling 60 sq ft: ₹7,800 to ₹21,000
With a standard roller fabric, expect to be towards the lower figure in each case; blackout, sunscreen and premium fabrics move you up.
Is blackout worth the extra?
In bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, yes — the difference in sleep quality and heat is noticeable. In passages, kitchens and utility areas, a translucent or dim-out fabric is enough.
Five ways to keep the cost down
- Use standard fabrics in rooms where darkness doesn't matter.
- Skip the cassette on recessed windows where the roll is hidden anyway.
- Choose a chain over spring mechanisms on large blinds.
- Combine adjacent small windows under one blind where the layout allows.
- Order the whole home together so measuring and installation happen in one visit.
What to check in a roller blind quote
- The exact fabric type (translucent, dim-out, blackout or sunscreen, and openness factor).
- The mechanism (chain, spring or motor) and whether a child-safety tensioner is included.
- Mount type (inside, outside or ceiling) and the size used for pricing.
- Extras such as cassettes or side channels, priced separately.
- What the warranty covers.

Frequently asked questions
What is the price of roller blinds per sq ft?
Roller blinds fall within our ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft range, including installation, and usually sit towards the lower part of it. Blackout, sunscreen and designer fabrics cost more than standard ones.
Are blackout roller blinds more expensive?
Yes, slightly, because blackout fabric is coated or multi-layered. For bedrooms and media rooms the extra cost is usually worth it.
Is a cassette worth paying for?
On windows where the roll is visible — especially in living rooms — a cassette gives a neater look and keeps dust off the fabric. On recessed windows it is optional.
Does the price of roller blinds include installation?
Yes. Our per-sq-ft rate includes measuring, the blind and installation. Motors and side channels are quoted separately.
