Balcony Blinds

Balcony blinds turn a sun-baked, exposed balcony into space you can actually use. Akhil Interior makes and installs made-to-measure balcony blinds across Delhi NCR in outdoor PVC, sunscreen mesh and bamboo chik, for open balconies, covered sit-outs and glass-enclosed balconies, priced at ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft including installation.

Unlike indoor blinds, outdoor blinds for a balcony have to cope with harsh afternoon sun, dust, monsoon rain and wind on the higher floors. So every balcony blind we fit is made from weather-ready material and held in place with side guides, cables or tie-downs that stop it flapping or banging against the railing.

Types of balcony blinds we install

• Outdoor PVC roll-up blinds. Waterproof, easy to wipe down and available in opaque and transparent versions. Transparent PVC keeps the view and daylight while keeping out rain and dust, which makes it popular for balconies used as sit-outs.
• Outdoor sunscreen roller blinds. A technical mesh that cuts heat and glare while you can still see out. Running in side guides, the fabric stays taut even in a strong breeze.
• Bamboo chik blinds. Natural texture and softly filtered light for covered balconies that are protected from driving rain.
• Roller and zebra blinds for enclosed balconies. When a balcony is glazed or turned into a study or sit-out, our regular window blinds work well and add blackout or day-night options.

Built for sun, wind and monsoon

For open balconies on the upper floors of a society, we recommend guided systems: the blind runs in aluminium channels or along tensioned cables, and the bottom bar locks down so the wind can't lift it. On lower or sheltered balconies, tie-downs at the bottom corners are usually enough. The materials are UV-stabilised and fade-resistant, and rolling the blinds up during heavy storms makes them last even longer.

Shading the balcony also keeps direct sun off the glass doors behind it, which helps the living room or bedroom stay cooler through May and June.

Balcony blinds for flats and high-rise apartments

Many apartment societies in Gurugram, Noida and Greater Noida have rules about what can be fixed on a balcony and which colours keep the facade uniform. We bring neutral shades such as beige, grey and taupe, and you can show the samples to your society before you order. The blinds are fixed to the slab or beam above with fixings that don't disturb the waterproofing.
