Skylight Blinds
Skylight blinds let you keep the daylight a skylight brings while controlling the heat and glare that come with it. Akhil Interior makes and installs made-to-measure skylight blinds across Delhi NCR for roof windows, staircase skylights, glass roofs over courtyards and atriums, and sloped glazing in top-floor rooms, priced within our ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft range, including installation.
An ordinary blind hangs by gravity, so on sloping or overhead glass it sags away from the window. Our skylight blinds run in side channels or on tensioned systems that hold the fabric flat at any angle, from a gentle slope to a completely flat glass roof.
Why skylights need special blinds
- Heat. Sun coming straight down through overhead glass heats a room far faster than a wall window, a real problem in Delhi summers.
- Glare. Midday sun through a skylight can make a room or stairwell uncomfortable to use.
- Angle. Sloped and flat glass needs a blind that stays taut instead of drooping.
- Reach. Skylights are often high above a staircase or a double-height space.
Skylight blind fabrics
- Blackout for attic bedrooms and media rooms under glass.
- Sunscreen mesh that cuts glare and heat while keeping the view of the sky.
- Honeycomb (cellular) fabrics that trap air and slow the heat coming through overhead glass.
- Reflective-backed fabrics that bounce more of the sun's heat back outside.
Motorised skylight blinds
Because most skylights are out of reach, we usually recommend a motorised skylight blind with a remote or wall switch, and many can be scheduled to close automatically when the sun is strongest. During the site visit we plan the power supply, either a neatly concealed point or a rechargeable motor, so there are no visible wires. Manual skylight blinds within a few feet of reach can be worked with a telescopic pole.

Skylight Blinds Price per sq ft
₹130 – ₹350per sq ft
Skylight blinds sit in the upper part of this range, installation included, because of the side channels and tension systems they need. A 4 × 6 ft skylight (24 sq ft) costs about ₹3,120 to ₹8,400, and a 10 × 12 ft glass roof (120 sq ft) about ₹15,600 to ₹42,000. Motors are quoted separately. Our window blinds price per sq ft guide explains how each part of a quote is worked out.

How We Make & Install Skylight Blinds
- 1
Site survey
We measure the glass, the frame or reveal where the channels will fix and the angle of the slope, and check safe access for installation and servicing.
- 2
Fabric and control
Choose blackout, sunscreen, honeycomb or reflective fabric, and whether the blind runs on a motor with a remote, wall switch or app, or by hand with a pole.
- 3
Precision fabrication
A skylight blind has to match its channels exactly, so each one is built to your measurements with the tension set for your slope.
- 4
Installation and testing
Our crew fixes the channels, fits the blind and motor, sets the limits and runs it end to end before handover.
