Ripple Fold Curtain Track Price: What Affects the Cost

Sheer curtains across a wide living room window

Ripple fold tracks sit towards the upper end of our ₹140 to ₹450 per running foot range, including installation. They cost more than a standard channel because of the linked carriers that create the even S-wave, the precise profile and the matching heading system. The curtains themselves — which need ripple fold heading tape and roughly double the track length in fabric — are priced separately.

Why ripple fold costs more

  • Linked carriers: carriers are joined by a cord or tape at fixed spacing, so every wave is the same depth.
  • A precise profile: the carriers must run smoothly and stay evenly spaced over the whole length.
  • Special end pieces and master carriers to finish the wave neatly.
  • Matching heading tape on the curtain, with snaps or hooks spaced to suit the carriers.

What changes the cost

  • Manual or motorised: ripple fold works especially well with motors, which are quoted separately.
  • Single or double: a sheer and a blackout on two ripple fold tracks doubles the running feet.
  • Finish: white is standard; black or metallic finishes may cost more.
  • Mounting: ceiling-mounted or recessed in a false-ceiling pocket.
  • Accessories: a draw wand for manual operation.

Worked examples

At ₹140 to ₹450 per running foot, installation included — with ripple fold towards the top of each range:

  • Bedroom, 8 ft single track: ₹1,120 to ₹3,600
  • Living room, 12 ft single track: ₹1,680 to ₹5,400
  • Master bedroom, 12 ft double track: 24 running feet, ₹3,360 to ₹10,800
  • Large living room, 18 ft motorised track: ₹2,520 to ₹8,100 plus the motor and controls.

Don't forget the curtains

Ripple fold curtains are made with special heading tape and typically need around twice the track length in fabric width. Deeper waves use more fabric. Existing curtains can sometimes be converted by restitching the heading, if there's enough width. Fabric and stitching are separate from the track price.

Questions to ask before ordering

  • What carrier spacing does the track use, and what fabric fullness does that mean for the curtains?
  • Is the track motor-ready, even if you start with manual operation?
  • Will the curtain maker and the track supplier work together? The heading tape must match the carriers exactly.
  • How far from the window will the track sit? Ripple fold waves project in front of and behind the track, so they need clearance from handles and sills.
  • What happens at the ends? Good systems finish the wave neatly at the wall with a return or end carrier.

Ripple fold on a tighter budget

If you love the look but need to control cost, use ripple fold only in the living room or master bedroom where it's most visible, and standard aluminium tracks elsewhere. You can also start with a manual, motor-ready ripple fold track and add the motor later.

Is ripple fold worth the extra?

If you want a clean, modern look with uniform folds, compact stacking and an easy upgrade path to motorisation, yes. If you prefer classic pinch-pleated curtains or are on a tight budget, a standard aluminium track does the job well.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a ripple fold track cost?

Ripple fold tracks cost within our ₹140 to ₹450 per running foot range, including installation, and usually sit towards the upper end. A 12 ft track costs about ₹1,680 to ₹5,400.

Why is ripple fold more expensive than a normal curtain track?

It uses carriers linked at fixed spacing, a precision profile and special end pieces to create even S-shaped waves, which costs more than a basic channel with loose gliders.

Do ripple fold curtains need more fabric?

They typically need around twice the track length in fabric width. The exact amount depends on the wave depth set by the carrier spacing.

Can I motorise a ripple fold track later?

Only if the track is motor-compatible. If you think you'll motorise later, ask for a motor-ready ripple fold profile and a concealed power point now.
