Motorised Blinds Price in India: The Blind, the Motor and Extras
Motorised blinds are priced in two parts. The blind costs ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft at Akhil Interior, including installation, depending on its type and fabric. The motor package — motor, remote or wall switch, any hub for app and voice control, and any wiring — is added on top, and depends on the size and weight of the blind, battery or wired power, and the features you want.
Part 1: The blind
The blind is priced by area exactly like a manual blind. For example:
- Tall living room window, 6 × 8 ft (48 sq ft): ₹6,240 to ₹16,800
- Large glass wall, 8 × 7 ft (56 sq ft): ₹7,280 to ₹19,600
- Three bedroom blinds totalling 90 sq ft: ₹11,700 to ₹31,500
Roller and zebra blinds are the most commonly motorised and sit in the lower and middle parts of the range; honeycomb and premium fabrics sit higher.
Part 2: The motor package
What decides the motor cost:
- Size and weight of the blind: larger, heavier blinds need more powerful motors.
- Battery or wired: battery motors avoid electrical work; wired motors need a power point.
- Smart compatibility: app, voice and scene control may need a compatible motor and a hub.
- Quietness and build quality: premium motors are quieter and smoother — worth it in bedrooms.
- Warranty: longer coverage often comes with better motors.
Ask for the motor package as a separate line in your quote, so you can compare like with like.
Controls and hubs
A single multi-channel remote can run several blinds individually or in groups. A hub or Wi-Fi bridge — usually one per home — adds app and voice control, timers and scenes.
Wiring
Wired motors need a power point near the headrail. During construction or renovation, a concealed point is easy to add; in a finished home it means chasing walls or ceilings. That's why battery motors are popular for retrofits.
Ways to save
- Motorise selectively — tall, hard-to-reach and most-used windows first.
- Use group control instead of multiple remotes.
- Choose battery motors for finished homes to avoid electrical work.
- Plan wired motors during construction, when wiring is cheapest.
A sample plan for a 3BHK
Most families don't motorise every window. A typical, sensible plan looks like this:
- Living room glass wall: two large zebra or sunscreen blinds, motorised and grouped on one remote.
- Master bedroom: one blackout roller blind, motorised with a morning timer.
- Other bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms: manual blinds with child-safe chains or cords.
In this plan, every blind is priced per sq ft in the usual way, and only three motors are added — one for each motorised blind — plus a hub if you want app and voice control. It keeps the budget focused on the windows where automation makes a daily difference.
When motorisation pays off
It pays off on double-height and tall windows, in homes with many windows, for elderly family members, for child safety (no cords), and in rooms where automatic heat and privacy control make daily life easier. Frequently asked questions
How much do motorised blinds cost in India?
The blind costs ₹130 to ₹350 per sq ft including installation, and the motor, controls and any hub or wiring are added on top. The motor cost depends on blind size, battery or wired power and smart features.
Is the motor included in the per-sq-ft price?
No. The per-sq-ft price covers the blind and installation. The motor package is quoted separately.
Should I choose battery or wired motors?
Battery motors suit finished homes because they need no wiring and keep working in power cuts. Wired motors suit new builds and large, frequently used blinds, but need a power point and inverter backup.
Can I motorise my existing blinds?
Sometimes. Many roller blinds can be refitted with a tubular motor if the tube and brackets are compatible. Older or very light blinds are often better replaced with a motor-ready blind.
